VJT recently provided new digital radiography systems to support the Alaskan North Slope Critical Pipeline Inspection during 2008. British Petroleum's (BPXA) North Slope Oil Exploration operations have completed a critical pipeline integrity survey with the technical expertise of VJT tech crews. VJ Technologies developed a new pipeline crawler in 2008, capable of providing 360° radiographic views of pipelines.

The U.S.DOT (Department of Transportation) mandated that BPXA conduct pipeline integrity surveys to identify internal and external corrosion. Pipelines in the extreme oil exploration environments are often covered with insulation that is difficult and costly to remove. BPXA came to VJT looking for a solution who then developed, fielded, and operated crawlers capable of inspecting the pipelines through the insulation, eliminating the requirement for insulation removal. The VJT crawlers are capable of crawling between vertical support members (VSM's) and stopping every foot to conduct a complete 360° inspection of the pipe. The systems produce high contrast images capable of identifying internal corrosion, pipe damage, and external corrosion - at a high inspection rate of nearly one foot per minute.

Over the past few months, the VJT Crawler System completely inspected miles of pipe and were able to deliver final results to BPXA in time for the DOT deadline. Other notable recent projects include inspection of lines for Saudi Aramco in U.A.E.
